Oreo Moon Phases!

All about the moon phases, but with the added bonus of Oreo cookies!
Kids love this activity for various reasons, well... let's face it, reason #1 is they get to eat Oreo cookies and reason #2 they get to play with their food!
Each student received eight oreo cookies and a copy of one of the freebies found on the internet (I used one found on Hilary Lewis blog rockinteachermaterials.com).  They also need a spoon to help mold the creme filling as they create their moon phases.
You can see full instructions on this link:

During our Solar System Chapter the class made these awesome hats and wore them in class.
Lots of happy faces at the end of this super easy and fast activity!

The class also made, and enjoyed the awesome freebie made by Stephanie Trapp too:

Volcano in Class

Flour Volcano!

For Science class the kids made a volcano using flour, salt and water, they mixed all the ingredients and shaped their volcano.  Right at the top they used a bottle cap, that they pushed just enough so it wouldn't be visible from the sides.  Inside the cap they put baking soda and mixed vinegar with red food dye.  The now red vinegar was poured on the baking soda inside the bottle cap and a VOLCANIC ERUPTION occurred!
We all enjoyed this project very much!
The kids loved the eruption so much, they kept adding vinegar and baking soda :)
